Digital Storytelling

Thank you for your patience over the last two weeks! I am looking forward to a snow-free class tomorrow! I know many of you were absent last week due to the short FCPS week, so it will be exciting to have a full class again.

Last week the class focused on the iPad App, Puppet Pals.  Puppet Pals is one of my favorite Apps! In Puppet Pals, children can create simple animated movies with a choice of characters and settings.  Students use their own voice to record the conversations between characters.  Because of its versatile nature, children can use this app for pure fun and enjoyment, as well as a great educational tool for school.

The App itself is free; however, in order to purchase more stock characters, customized characters, and additional settings you would need to purchase the 'Director's Pass' for $4.99.  I think it is well worth the price!

I loved watching the children's videos over the last few days.  Your children are so creative and imaginative! Since the wi-fi at Vienna Community Center was not working properly last week, we'll go ahead and retry sending them home for you to keep.  In the meantime, here are a few screen shots from the class!

Tomorrow we will focus on various Apps that are used for Digital Presentations.  There are so many amazing Apps in this category - it is difficult to choose only a few.  In addition to Prezi and Animoto, we are going to also try to cover Haiku Deck and ChatterPix (new!).  Please be sure to make this change to the schedule (especially if you are sending in a home iPad).
